About Obzor
Obzor is one of our Black Sea resorts with long, interesting and dynamic history. It is situated on the hills of Stara Planina Mountain, gently sloping down to the Black Sea. The town has a wide beach line, which stretches from Sveti Atanas Cape all the way to Mona Petra Cape. The famous Irakli Beach is not far away.
What we call “Obzor” today has had different names in the past. In the era of ancient Ellada it was known as Havlohos, in Roman times – as Templum Iovis (meaning “Temple of Jupiter”). In Medieval times the area was named Koziak. The magnificent fortresses that were built then were later destroyed by the Ottoman invaders. The name Obzor was first used in 1935 and since then the complex has been building its modern reputation as a well-known sea resort.
